Contemporary

From floor to flying! A class of dynamic and organic movement based on the fusion of contemporary Limón, Graham and Horton techniques using weight, path, and space. We will take you through a soft floor warm up, a flowing detailed technique centre practice, and lots of engaging choreography and movement exploration. Get ready to explore, sweat and laugh.

Levels & Class Description

INTRO TO CONTEMPORARY

No dance experience required, dancers should be able to access the floor and standing movement. A sessional class offered mid-year designed to cover the basics for the true beginner. Dancers may choose to join the beginner courses after this sessional.

DROP IN:

BEGINNER

No dance experience required. Dancers should be able to access the floor and standing movement. This class is a progressive course from September to June ending with a Performance. After spring break a portion of class will be dedicated to rehearsal. Drop-ins will be accepted as long as practical.

THURSDAYS 7:45-9:00PM with Kathy Lang (Performing - CLOSED to Drop-ins)

SATURDAYS 12:30-1:45PM with Kathy Lang (Performing - OPEN to Drop-ins)

INTERMEDIATE 1

Minimum 2 years of dance experience. Dancers are recommended to participate in 2-3 classes per week. This is a progressive class from September to June ending with a Performance - required attendance of twice a week (Mon/Wed). After spring break a portion of class will be dedicated to rehearsal. Drop-ins will be accepted as long as practical.

DROP IN:

INTERMEDIATE 2

Minimum 4 years of dance experience. Dancers are recommended to participate in 2-4 classes a week. This is a progressive class from September to June ending in a Performance - required attendance of twice a week (Tues/Thurs). After spring break a portion of class will be dedicated to rehearsal. Drop-ins will be accepted as long as practical.

ADVANCED

Minimum 5 years of dance experience and strong dance background required, must be able to navigate a complex class. Strengthen your floor work, fly in the air and expand your vocabulary in this physically challenging and choreographic technique class. Dancers are recommended to participate in 3-6 classes a week as well as Ballet classes. This is a progressive class from September to June ending in a Performance - required attendance of twice a week (Mon/Wed). After spring break a portion of class will be dedicated to rehearsal. Drop-ins will be accepted as long as practical.

Drop In friendly all year, no performance. Levels vary.
