Choreography Projects

At SEDA, we strive to provide performance opportunities and to showcase our Choreographer’s works and works-in-progress. This season we will be offering projects at various times to provide additional creative experiences. Dancers participate by being involved in the creation and performance of a Contemporary dance piece created by one of Seda Dance’s Teachers or Guest Choreographers. SEDA showings will be scheduled based on pieces ready for performance and some pieces may be selected for the SEDA performance in June. Choreography projects are rehearsal based with no classwork or warm up. Dancers must apply for each project and are subject to approval by choreographer. Regular attendance is a must.

From Kayla: “Through movement, we will explore the nervous system and how it is constantly working to keep us moving, breathing, thinking, feeling — and more. We will use different physical and emotional states as our inspiration to express mobilization, activation, social engagement, safety, immobilization and collapse on our journey to finding one's true self.”

Choreographic Project C - in progress

LEVEL: Advanced/ Int 2
Choreographer: Peter Starr
IN PROGRESS

Minimum 5 dancers. Applications will be considered by the choreographer and dancers will be notified upon acceptance.

From Peter: “Create with me! I am inspired by a beautiful Radiohead cover played on Japanese string instruments (koto) that flows like water. I want to play with flowing structures and abstract marine themes, with room to deviate, as is the nature of creation. The more the merrier! A larger group presents more options! We will create work as a group and also highlight individual dancer strengths so that everyone is truly a part of this new creation.
